This is the perfect little pack. I'm using it for hiking and all the components transfer well from its hunting origins.
very well made! I do wish the bird bag was removable
The pull out net makes this a great small-game hunting bag. Perfect for rabbit, squirrel, quail, etc. My only knock is the design of the pass-through scabbard pocket. I bought the short shotgun side scabbard to carry a .22 rifle in. The pass-through pocket has webbing at the top, but not the bottom. The scabbard tends to rise up when you reach behind and pull a rifle out, instead of staying in one place. Webbing at the bottom would solve this.
Great quality product. 99% of the time I am using it, I am not in need of an extra bird bag, I suppose if I ever have a need for the mesh bag, I hope I remember it is attached. Otherwise, like everything Eberlestock, great quality zippers, pockets, division pockets, material, etc. What if instead of a bird bag, it was a rain fly that could also double as a bird bag. 2 birds, 1 stone, 1 bag... ;-)
I didn’t realize how much room the bird bag used; it would have been nice if it was detachable in some kind of way. (Zippers maybe?) Other than that the bag is great, with lots of functionality.. I bought this for Airsoft days with my son and it’s held tight to my back when running and diving through the woods.. The zip out belt is a nice touch!!
