The Padded Hip Belt is best added to packs intended to regularly carry heavier than normal loads (45 lbs.+) for sustained periods. The Padded Hip Belt may also be a wise addition for those with little body fat to reduce abrasion discomfort on the hip bones. The Padded Belt is approximately double the height and thickness of the Standard Hip Belt, and is 35" of padding.
Ladder locking DuraFlex HD buckles ensures proper fitment and carry. The Padded Hip Belt also features three horizontal rows of MOLLE webbing for mounting accessories like the Padded accessory pouch or the MultiPack.

This is so much better than the hip belt that comes on the f1 main frame, its way to small and I have a 32 inch waist. This new belt actually wraps around so you can actually access the accessory pouch that I have attached on the sides.

Padded Hip Belt and Shoulder Harness
The ONLY way to go when carrying a heavy load over miserable terrain. The belt and shoulder harness are very comfortable and distribute the weight evenly.

Size matters
This wider padded hip belt performs better than the standard belt at pack weights of 25-50 lbs. It hugs my pelvis better and reduces slippage, also reducing pressure points on the sacrum and iliac crests. Unfortunately it does not fit waist sizes smaller than 34” like the standard hip belt. My waist is about 32 “ and I’m trying to make it work but the straps are maxed right out as tight as they can go. This seats the medial ends of the pads deep into my abdomen which is not so comfortable. The upside is that the extra coverage helps reduce slippage even better. Eberlestock ‘s adherence to “one size fits most“ packs, harnesses, and hip belts is suboptimal at best. This type of equipment has to fit perfectly or it will not work well for you. The foam could be a little more stiff and grippy, but it’s functional as is. I like how the molle panels are looser than on the standard belt so I can tuck in the straps getting them out of the way. If you like to attach accessory pouches you may find yourself wishing those panels were more flush to the belt.
