Basin

The first thing that I noticed was that is feels smaller than than its predecessor the super spike. Even after after overpacking from one to another it was hard to believe that it holds the same. The additional pouches for small things or quick te get things are reason enough to replace the super spike for the basin. The battwings can now be attached and the main compartment will still be accessible. Serious progress of the EMOD.

Good quality, but poor design, The quality of the materials used for this pack is excellent. It is better if not equal to that of MR. However, the pack itself leaves a lot to be desired. The fitment of this pack when used with the F1 mainframe is suboptimal. Overall, the pack is built using high quality materials, but seems poorly designed because of the attempt to make this pack somewhat standalone as a duffel.

I bought a Basin to serve as a kit bag. It is exactly what I needed. My kit is all custom made and modular. My war belt, plate carrier, helmet and assault pack all fit in the main compartment. I attached 2 batwing to the opposite side to hold my placards, chest rig, holsters and NVG supporting gear.

The only reason the Basin doesn't get 5 stars is that there isn't a backpack strap option without buying a mainframe, and there is only one way to attatch the shoulder strap. Using the pack as I am it would be very useful to be able hang the strap off the center line to make it carry better.

As far as quality of construction is concerned, it is the craftsmanship I appreciate in Eberlestock.

Guilty of an impulse buy on this one. Essentially it's an updated and improved version of my 10+ year old spike duffel. External pockets are good sized and the hydration bladder pocket is a great add. I haven't used it in the field yet, but seems perfect for day hunts and up to 2-3 night bivy hunts.

Haven't used it in the field yet. loaded it up with my spotting scope, tri-pod, tent, sleeping bag and mat, with food and water for my daily "walks". this pack/duffle will not disappoint!

So far so good. It's just the right size to fit everything I need for a multi day hunt but not to big so I don't pack stuff I don't need. It's perfect!
