Switchblade

Firstly Its a good bag, I absolutely love it for the most part. I mainly just HATE how when you have a bit of stuff in the top compartment and want to open the main compartment it tends to just fall all the way open. I guess I wish it had different zippers or openings for these. A tri zip was my previous daily driver and it was good for the most parts as well but the shoulder straps would always loosen. The switch blade doesn't have this problem. And the switchblade seems to have amazing ventilation on all the near body surfaces. I love the concealed carry compartment, the main reason I got this bag instead of another. I wish it wasn't magnetic closure though. I don't want Ti magnetize my piece and then therefore magnetize every other part including firing pin once all the prices slam against each other. Plus this could cause a failure to fire. I also fairly often just use one shoulder strap and find myself often thinking my pistol could fall out with the bag askew and nothing but magnets holding fast together. I also am pretty darn sure the magnets will wear that portion of fabric out, squish it if you will sooner than the rest.
All that said though, I think this is probably the best option out there for this category of bag.

Quality materials, well-designed and clearly built for tough use! Currently my wildland firefighting gear bag!

Bag is comfortable to carry has lots of extra pockets. However, the top pocket if you put anything in at all once you open the main compartment it flops over. The design of that pocket on the inside is nice, but has soon add anything to it, it makes accessing the main compartment a pain.

Was looking for a pack to wear on horseback that would hold my 21.5” long PDW/Camp gun and essentials. While it will fit (barely), the Switchblade is just a wee short when filled with other gear, like a 3L water bladder, binos, IFAC, radio, etc… which it holds handily, with easy access to the main compartment. No fault of Eberlestock. The dimensions specified the length, width and depth precisely. I took a gamble, and it didn’t work out for that.

However, as a pack for wearing in the saddle, it is absolutely fantastic! Having essentials on your back when dismounting is a huge benefit for scouting and hunting. The Switchblade rides at the perfect height just above the cantle of the saddle. It’s also adjustable for shoulder height, which is useful for adjusting height above the saddle for maneuverability.

Superbly stitched, comfortable, adjustable, and thoughtfully put together for easy access. Strongly recommended. I might just have to get a Little Trick for carrying my camp gun.

I have used the backpack on several trips now, and it has all the pockets and organization I need. It has great capacity to carry what I need, while maintaining a slim profile so I can easily put it under the seat on a flight.
