The pack is very comfortable and worked well with the rifle in the scabbard. It’s a great little pack for quick day trips. Only downsides I noticed are the water bottle pockets on the sides need to be a little deeper. My 32 oz nalgene and hydroflask bottles kept wanting to fall out. Also, there isn’t much room inside to pack any meat out without strapping it to the outside of the pack, so definitely wouldn’t use it going after bigger game.
This is the 3rd pack I have bought over the years. I have not found a company that can hold a candle to Eberlestock quality. Started with the sky crane and duffel attachment in my early military career for deployments and lasted 7 deployments without a single issue. Then I bought a hunting pack and can't remember the name of it for the life of me, but I still use it every hunting trip to date since buying it in 2010. So I figured it was time for an upgrade so I can be bougie and have a lighter bag just for coyote hunting, so I went with the gun runner.
Ok, so like I said earlier...this company in MY OPINION is the best so I think I can focus on specifically my dislikes and again I understand that not everyone is like me so some might have this bag or be happy with the things I don't. Well here they are:
1st, The mole set up does not extend all the way down the face of the bag, with the bag only having two pockets I already knew I would have to get some to attach and did. But only the top face had the capability to do this and the space was limited, so if the mole set up extended down the front to the bottom that would be a huge difference.
2nd, the waist strap was the size, it's only about an inch or 1.5"...I didn't measure it. This is unlike past packs I own. I guess I should add I'm a muscular build with a half flat tire (40" waist) on the waist and this strap really creates a crease on me...LOL. the thick part of the waist that had the mole capability on it only extends half way around me making it impossible for me to access the large pouch I bought and attached.
4th, the mirage camo is a bit to green compared to how i seen it in the pictures, they did not have the muti cam option or a western type camo. Oklahoma is brushy and tan but I hate the plain tan color but would take that over the mirage in a heart beat now that I have it in hand.
Lastly, this bag fit my Shockwave perfectly in the main pocket, and in my last pack the main pocket had a velcro divider that allowed you to make the main pocket 2 pockets with a zipper at the bottom allowing you to access the bottom portion...if that was added to this bag I swear this would be the ultimate predator bag.
Again, the pros to this bag are in the name and description. I barley notice the pack on my back. It's very lightweight!
Overall this pack will def please anyone looking to do some quick in and out short range hunting like predator hunting. Has the capability to Carry anything you would need and is quality. I have used it a few times now and as I use it I get over the negatives.
Fits perfect. Gun fits nicely and easy tog er in and out.
Bought the gunrunner for an out of state hunting trip. Very impressed with how it handles and it’s versatility. It’s been a excellent piece of gear and thoroughly enjoy it.
I bought this pack at the last minute for an elk hunt because I wanted a better way to pack my heavy rifle around the mountain. The pack arrived quickly. This is an awesome well made pack for a day hunt! Very pleased with this pack.
Bag quality is good. Rifle scabbard is just to small. I picked this up to carry a work gun (Sig 716). No way that was fitting! Tried my PRS gun (bolt gun from Seekins) but had to take the bipod off for it to fit. I guess this is a shotgun bag now.
Love it! Carries a gun perfect and lots of room for a call, comfy too!
This is my third Eberlestock pack. I have not been hunting with it yet, but so far so good with some training exercises. The one change that I would make on this pack guys is continue the padding on the waist belt for 4 to 6 more inches and it would be perfect.
Just what I was looking for
I like the way it is laid out with pockets
