Gun runner review

So far the gun runner is amazing, fits my tikka tx3 with vortex viper 5-25 pst and bipod very well. Snug fit, not sliding around but easy to pull out the rifle and shoulder with the pack on. Definitely my go to day pack. I’ll be excited to use it in Wyoming in a couple weeks and really put it to the test.

Well Constructed

Bought for my Fiance to use this fall season, recently purchased the J34 & admired the quality of the pack so I had to come back to Eberlestock for our next pack. The GunRunner did not disappoint when it showed up at our doorstep. Paired with small accessory pouche my Fiance is excited to put miles on the pack this year. Keep up the good work & we highly recommend.

Best all-season day hunting pack ever

I've used the Gunrunner for probably seven years now, hunting elk and bison around Jackson Hole, Wyoming from September through January in temperatures ranging from 70 degrees F. to 25 below zero F. I've skied dozens of days with it and forded rivers carrying my skis on the pack. It simply is the most versatile pack I've ever used for carrying a rifle and keeping your hands free for trekking or skiing poles. I remain puzzled at some of the reviews that state the scabbard is too small for a rifle and scope. I've used my Ruger M-77 in 30-06 with a Leupold 2.5x-8x scope on it as well a custom .308 Winchester with a Leupold 1.5x-5x: absolutely no problem placing either rifle in the scabbard of getting it out easily. Moreover, I've been able to fit the following gear in the pack: four game bags, a skinning and boning knife, a knife sharpener, field-dressing gloves, plus two down parkas as well as extra mittens, a thermos of tea, 2 liters of water, a small first-aid kit, and enough food and emergency gear (bivy sack, fire starter, hand and foot warmers) to spend a night out in the winter. If you can't fit enough gear in this pack to spend a very cold day outside, you may want to revisit the kind of clothing you're carrying. The pack won't carry a whole bunch of meat to the trailhead, for sure, but it's not designed to do that. For anyone who wants to move light and fast, and especially if you like to hunt on skis, this pack is absolutely first-rate.

Just what I needed!

After I used a very subpar generic backpack for my coues deer hunt last season I decided it was time to upgrade to a real bag. I found this bag on accident and fell in love with the built in scabbard concept and decided to give it a try. I hate carrying things in my hands and having my rifle on my shoulder during long hikes. This bag is perfect for me. Fits my Ruger American with a 20” barrel perfectly. I got it to use as a day pack. I don’t expect to haul meat with it, that’s not what it’s made for. I plan on riding my dual sport which has a rifle scabbard on it, to my hunting area and then throwing my rifle in this bag to hike the rest of the way in. The slim fit and design of this bag works well for me as I am a 5’8 female with a slim build. I just used it on a non-hunting weekend trip to Colorado as my only bag and it fit perfectly as a carryon. I was able to fit a pair of 5.11s, sweatpants, hoodie, thermal shirt, 2 short and 2 long sleeve shirts, a pair of running shorts, all my underwear and socks for 5 days, toiletries AND diamondback 10x42 with the harness inside the main compartment!! It can definitely be a minimalistic bag but comfortably hold enough for a weekend getaway or vacation! My one gripe that I can think of is that it doesn’t have a buckle for the scabbard cover to clip to if you were to put one on it. Which I found out after I got one but it still works if you tuck it into the scabbard. Just do it!

Solid pack

I used the Gunrunner for a backcountry canoe/camp trip and this worked great as a day pack. My fishing tackle box fit in the gun holder. Just big enough to fit a jet boil, rain gear, and food for a day. Can't wait to try it turkey hunting next spring. My only small gripe is the pack material and fabric seems to get extra heavy when soaked, but this pack will last a lifetime and is lightweight when dry. Highly recommend for the hardcore backcountry dwellers. I own the Dragonfly, Bandit, and now the Gunrunner rounds out my kit.

Gunrunner (Bow Runner) is awesome.

I absolutely love the Gunrunner. It is the best of the 4 packs I own (Just One, Bandit, Dagger, and now Gunrunner). I started with the Just One and fell in love with Eberlestock. Think of the Gunrunner as the day pack version of the Just One. It is the most versatile and useful pack for day hunts with the rifle, or for packing a bow at TAC events. It can also be compressed enough for a day hike pack. I did have to change out the shoulder harness and waist belt because I have a longer than average and thick torso, but the added expense for those accessories was well worth it. I highly recommend this pack if you are looking for somethng that is minimalist but gives you options.

Made in America!

Impressively well built. My only negative comment is it can't carry a rifle with a scope, in order to do that you must buy the larger capacity pack.

Gunrunner

I purchased it because I needed a lighter pack, it's extremely light, used it on a ibex hunt in March, the pack is comfortable to wear all day, as a matter of fact, I purchased one for my daughter , great pack , great price
