I use this pack as a weekend bag and it’s great for it
The Jacknife is the versatile everyday carry and travel pack that I've been waiting for years for Eberlestock to release.
The size is perfect for traveling with all of the essentials: a full-size laptop, a notepad and documents, a small med kit, etc. The rear compartment serves a lot of purposes depending on your application. I've tested it with a broken-down AR and a PDW, but it works equally well for traveling with a folded jacket or even putting enough clothes in there for a basic overnight trip.
My only wish was that it had the same admin features in the lid pocket that the Bandit has, but I solved that by using a few small packing cubes and an admin panel inside the main compartment. Overall, it's a great pack and it will be taking over most of the daily carry and air travel duties from my Bandit.
Overall solid pack. Perfect size for a day- weekend pack. I am 6ft 190 and pack fits me well. Fits 10/22 breakdown but I feel like it could have used a bit more internal organization and a full zippered main compartment. Quality of material is second to none and I also have the Fanny pack and undercover briefcase.
The size, weight and comfort are outfreakinstanding. The quality of the bag is awesome. Durable materials, zippers and zipper pulls......this bag was built to last and fits my edc plus work required items perfectly. Favorite bag I've owned thus far....and I have had many over the years. Killer bag for everyday use and commute to work.
As usual with everything you make— incredible quality and design.
This is my 3rd bag from Eberlestock and it is fantastic. I just got back from a 3 day trip and it fit everything I needed without a hiccup. I carry a 8" ar and 2 pmags in the clam shell compartment and it holds everything snug and is easy to access. The ONLY thing I wish I could change on it is the bottom of the bag so it could sit up instead of having to lay flat or be leaned up against something. Great bag, great quality, great company.
5th pack from Eberlestock! This one is now the new favorite! They just keep getting better!
I bought this pack to use primarily for air travel....a good carry on for my things. Up until this pack I used a Maxpedition sling style pack. My issue is there are not enough sub pockets for organization. When traveling I like to have dedicated pockets for various things....passport...wallet..etc. This doesn't have many and the ones there are too shallow. It's a well built pack using great materials....just not truly the one for my needs. For the price I wish it was more
I ordered the Jacknife as soon as I saw it was available, and have used it as my EDC for 2-3 weeks now.
Pros:
-Build quality is great (like all Eberlestock packs)
-1,000in3 size is great for EDC
-Media divider for laptop
-Stretchy material for water bottle pockets
-Shoulder straps are wide enough to be comfortable when carrying a heavy load (ie a rifle and ammo, which I did test out)
Cons:
-Breakdown rifle carry in an EDC/CCW isn’t very practical; the pistol storage pocket would be more functional (for me, at least). There are other bags in the Eberlestock lineup that are better at discrete rifle carry
-No organization in any of the pockets
-Bottom of the bag is angled, so it will fall over if it’s not laid flat
-Expensive compared to the Bandit and Switchblade, with less organization and functionality

In my opinion, if Eberlestock wanted to make the best selling EDC bag of all time, they’d take the Bandit, bump it up to 1,000in3, make it wide enough to fit a laptop, add a media divider, add the magnetic CCW pocket (but shrink it down so a pistol can’t float around inside it), make the water bottle pockets elastic, and add spare magazine slots in the top pocket.
