The technology of the Airbase system comes directly from the Finnish Special Forces, after their pursuit for a base layer that would first keep them warm, but then also ventilate sweat and moisture to keep them moving and comfortable.

The net-like weave creates pockets to be filled with warm air generated by the body, to then be trapped in place by the next layer placed over the Airbase. This allows the wearer to maintain the ability to thermoregulate by simply exposing the open weave of the Airbase to rapidly drop heat, and then again cover the Airbase to begin retaining heat.

Due to the net-like weave, the Airbase makes significantly less contact with the skin than traditional base layers, and in turn wicks sweat and moisture away from the body more efficiently than any other. This means that even when wet, the air pockets are able to remain warm to maintain body heat while also accelerating the ventilation process.

The Airbase top features a knitted collar and wrist cuffs, and the bottom features a knitted ankle cuff and elastic waistband.

  • Big air pockets

With Airbase’s big air pockets, you have nothing contacting the majority of your skin surface, while adjacent polypropylene wicks moisture, so you always feel dry and warm.

Well worth the money

Up here in northern Canada it gets frickin cold up in the mountains this time of year.

I started using airbase for an against the skin base layer, then some heat reflective long underwear over them, and it's like a sealed envelope of heat. Airbase moves well with the body and is virtually weightless.

It would just be nice if Eberlestock had a warehouse north of the boarder to eliminate all the extra costs. They ended up costing over double due to the invisible line that separates our two countries that where once one great nation, but as the saying goes divide and conquer then distract them with media and entertainment.

The fit is excellent for me with size medium and my 33” waist. I’m just coming into winter season soon so I have only worn the pants a couple of times in the fall. Even when it was still a bit warm, they’ve been great at cooling down effectively. Im looking forward to wearing them this winter for a real test compared to my wool base layer.

Solid Baselayer

Light weight. Warm. Highly breathable. Definitely recommend.

Best base layer I've ever worn

Owned a set of these for 4 years now. Used them not only for military but civilian life also. 20 degree weather and saturated cloths but with these on you and you won't even notice. Might look like you are gearing up for the gay club and pricey but well worth every penny.

Airbase Base Layer - Bottom

No doubt this will be awesome, tested with light use

Went sledding for an hour with the bottoms and top, under jeans and a northface apex jacket with Tshirt. Sledded for an hour in 20 degrees fahrenheit, jeans were completely soaked.

I never felt cold, or chilled even when the lower was soaked with my jeans. Body heat from walking climbing back up kept me warm.

They're just better

In the backcountry no one will see you, use stuff that works better. These work better. Learned of the concept from Andy Kirkpatrick bigshot climber who recommends a Norwegian brand that you can't really get in the states. Glad that Eberlestock has a product just as good available here.

Definitely recommend. Pair with afterburner pants for full vent system to keep cool while gaining altitude and zip up to keep warm while glassing.

Great...please modify

This works as advertised. I hunt in hot and humid MS and can attest that it keeps you warm and cools you off. Worked up a sweat climbing a difficult tree. Pulled up my pants to air out then back down. Light wt and barely there!
