I bought this pack about 3 years ago intending to use it as a combination hunting pack/camping pack and as a bug out bag when nothing is in season, and I wanted something that would allow me to carry everything I'd need for long trips lasting up to 3 weeks. Added on the spike duffel which is perfect for carrying clothes and food. After a years worth of HEAVY and frequent use I just couldn't believe how well it was holding up. It can literally hold more gear than your body is capable of hauling through the woods for any period of time. But the fact that you're able to tailor that storage capacity down to a day pack is fantastic!!! With my old pack, once I'd setup camp and left the non-essentials behind, what was left inside would shift around causing issues with weight distribution and a few times it caused enough noise to scare off the animal I was stalking. Haven't had that problem ever since I changed to this pack. I LOVE that I can just pack the essentials into the tubes, tighten down the compression straps and I'm good to go. I have used this for another 2 years since then, and came back to the website hoping to buy a rain cover as my old one finally bit the dust, was disappointed they are out of stock right now, but since I was already here I couldn't help but leave a review. Awesome product!!!
I have owned this pack for several years now and it is my go to for hunting and packing now. I LOVE the scabbard, the pack expansion for hauling game, and the comfort and durability. My gripes are its obese weight, the solid frame feels like the pack doesn't move with your body when it's loaded light for day trips, and I think the numerous small pockets would be better combined into several larger ones. Overall, it's hard to beat the value and features of this pack for the money
Used it for 4 seasons now. Packed out multiple mule deer and elk. Hauls meat well. Expandable compartment easily fits bone in hind elk quarters. Gun scabbard is great especially when hauling meat back. It's good to have free hands when climbing. I had to have a pack that I can haul meat back with all my day gear, this pack gets it done. I purchased the spike duffle and extended straps. Used it for 5 day Backcountry hunts, you can fit way more gear than needed. I typically don't use fanny pack attachment because pack has so much room without it. Spike duffel is great at camp to keep clothes and extra gear in at camp. It is heavier then most packs but haven't found a better one yet.
I have not used it yet but it trying the fit out I find it super conformable even with the rifle in the scabbard. I wanted to make sure it could hold all the gear I believe I will need for a sheep hunt and there is extra room. Perfect for the last minute items you remember to grab and ensures it can get the harvest off the mountain.
Great piece of gear. Look forward to lugging it around.
